Re: Photographing Dove Cottage

I like this one John.A couple of niggles.I do wish the person was not there and the sign on the lampost is a wee bit annoying.Signs are unavoidable I know, though could maybe be cloned out if you wished?.I think this would also be worth trying as a Mono version,or Duotone perhaps?.Anyway, nice detail in all that stonework in house/roof/wall/paving
Wish I lived in a house like that

Re: Photographing Dove Cottage

Love the composition + colours. For me there's too much sharp detail spread evenly across the picture, this gives it a very 2D effect + my eyes are springing all over the picture trying to find somewhere to land. It's a lovely image, just a little overcooked IMO, + a shorter DoF could've picked out areas to direct focus onto, instead of the whole scene being in sharp focus, which makes it a very busy image.

Re: Photographing Dove Cottage

This almost works for me. I really like the filter effect ( I guess Lucis Arts ?). What spoils it are all the modern bits in the foreground. The yellow hydrant sign, the notice on the lamp post and the blue sign on the railings. They are just too noticeable and distracting. I do not mind the person so much but not with a camera.

I had assumed that Dove Cottage was the one behind her. I guess I screwed up there (porbably not for the last time either) . I still think the coments are valid though. - Except the one about the lady with the camera that is

Re: Photographing Dove Cottage

Concept and composition look good to me.
But I feel the image has been over sharpened. (This is just my opinion)
The left edge of the pavement could have been included completely. I see no shadows, so the sky must have been real cloudy to block the Sun, but still I dont see any saturated colors. Must be some thing to do with Sharpening. ( It is just my opinion)
The picture seems to have been taken based on the rule of the GOLDEN MEAN. That is why it is very eye catching composition.
Great composition, Great subject, it is just a matter of colors.
Thanks,
Kris

Re: Photographing Dove Cottage

Well....
Thanks for all the feedback Charlotte and guys.

Gary seems to have hit the proverbial head of the nail - the title of the picture is "Photographing Dove Cottage" - hence the old biddy with the camera. Dove Cottage by the way is out of frame on the left.

It was taken on a dull, grey, overcast day, and I used LucisArt to bring out the colour. The only processing this image received is "LucisArt" - there is no sharpening whatsoever on this picture (I don't sharpen anything).

Thanks again for looking and commenting.

Which filter in Lucis do you use to get this effect. I have been playing with Lucis for a while and cannot get much like that. Some hints would be appreciated.
