Pimp the Portrait
How would you pimp this photo? Don't tell me - show me what you would do!
Colour? Mono? Blur the skin tone or keep the freckles? Crop? Burn? Saturate? There are so many options and we all have our own interpretations and personal preferences. I think it would be interesting and maybe even helpful to others to see some of the possibilities. ![]() Happy pimping ![]() |

Re: Pimp the Portrait
![]() just a quick attempt, i used the desaturation brush to remove colour every where exept the eyes then increased saturation on the eyes. then i used the burn brush to darken the back ground and then adjusted contrast and brightness. then added border with drop shadow. oh and i cropped the right hand side slightly. done using paint shop pro x. i agree its interesting and helpful to see other peoples ideas. it can also inspire me to try different things i wouldnt have thought of before! i have never tried the selective colouring before so i thought i would try it and see what happened |

Re: Pimp the Portrait
I am fine with doing this Victoria )not now, I'm at work!) but just in case you sare not aware, in the Gallery there is a special section for Pimp This Photo where people put pictures they specifically want to get alternative versions of. It is great fun to look at and see what different people come up with.
Just thought you might have missed it so don't mind me just mentioning it. I am NOT criticising it being on here ![]() Cheers, Rob |

I didn't want to confuse it with those who are genuinely seeking help to improve their photos. I would hate for someone to go to a lot of effort to help me out when I'm just goofing around. Having said that, I could get a big surprise and find out that my version isn't so great afterall - I know there is a lot of talent out there. and I still have so much to learn! My motivation isn't purely evil though as I think we might all benefit from seeing the different versions that are created.Does this all make sense? Anyway, if you're at work why are you looking at Pixalo?? ![]() |

Re: Pimp the Portrait
Mr Blue Sky,
That's quite a good effort - certainly different to my version (to be revealed later). I think the selective colouring of the eyes works quite well here and it's something I hadn't really considered doing. |

Re: Pimp the Portrait
I'll play,.
![]() greyscale, contrast + brightness, usm and a quick dodge + burn,. I think the original looks a little under contrasted especially through the eyes, will be interested to see what others make as my talent with skin tones needs work ![]() Sil PS,. I should add I like the original composition and I have overdone the contrast / sharpening on mine I expect! |

Re: Pimp the Portrait
Everyone has done a wonderful job and isn't it interesting that we've all done something different?! Here's my version
![]() I chose to remove the background entirely to bring the focus straight to Alex. |

Re: Pimp the Portrait
This is my colour version that is similar to Dave's (what, no mono?) although Dave has done a better job of cropping. The black background doesn't really work in this one and I should have removed it completely.
