Poppy Field

Went out last night and as I was travelling to my intended destination I came across a couple of fields full of poppies. It's the first time I have seen anything like this around here, so I took a couple of little side roads and eventually came to these fields. I only took a couple of shots as I then thought I was a bit too close and didn't feel I could do anything with comps etc. Also didn't want to miss the chance of a sunset.
Anyway here is one of those shots......

After taking this I then managed to get lost eventually reaching the place I had in mind for a shoot, the weather changed.....became very dull and quite windy. I managed to get back home at 11:30pm with the petrol tank reading red.

The field was on a slope and thought i'd leave it like that with the distant horizon being level.....do you think I should rotate it and what else could or should I do to improve this at the time of shooting or in PP.
Shot with the 17-55 exif in pic.
TFL.

Re: Poppy Field

I had the same dillema re cropping with my latest poppy shot I posted. Like yourself I had lots of foliage at the bottom of the shot, but cropped mine to the start of the flowers ....not usre if it's better or not form it, but probably personal taste. Some may find the foliage wasted psace , others may love it.

I assume from the way the background gets darker, you had caught the light moving across the field ? I assume this because the sky gives a feeling on impending storm & therefore supports the lighting. Or did you use fill in flash for foreground ?
Time permitting I suppose some peek of lighting on the back of the flied might of helped your eye move through the scene, but that's being picky.

Overall I really like the shot

I'm with Markulous. The sky has something more in the first. But I like where you cropped from the bottom.
