A good friend of mine asked me to do a portfolio shoot for him for SA Fashion Week, so we did it this weekend. I was pretty happy with the results considering it is my first work with a male model.

Any thoughts or critiques much appreciated...?

Thoughts on the frame? It's a new one I haven't used before.

Photos are OK but I don't like the frame. In this case it's the photo people want to see not a frame.

I don't shoot this sort of stuff so I'm probably not best qualified to give critique. I can only give my personal opinion which for what it is worth - based on those five shots -

• As the photos are for a Fashion Week I would have expected to see more of the clobber. It seems to me that the models are getting more attention.

• I'm on dangerous ground here - I think some of the poses are a bit, well .... limp-wristed.

• I like the monos better than the colour and the lighting in #5 is very good.

• For shooting a bloke I think a different location would be better, men and cornfields just don't go together.

• Technicallly there's no problem - good exposure, sharp in the right places and good tones.

As I said just my twopenneth. Hang around - there are some other members who can give far more effective critique for this type of shoot. HTH.

It's for his portfolio for fashion week, so the attention must be on the model, but otherwise fair comments, and I respect your opinion, thank you.
