Re: Portrait of (a) Lady
That's a lovely classic shot Cathie!
I wish I could get my two to sit and pose like that! All I get is a nose stuck in the lens!

Nice shot Cathie - nothing wrong with it at all. You must be very pleased with it. I would be if it were mine.

Re: Portrait of (a) Lady
Thanks Boofers, Graham and Angela .... I could hardly believe my luck. She followed me outside when I was photographing some flowers, and something down the street caught her attention!! Normally when I get the camera pointed at her she comes and sits on my feet ..

Nice shot hehe. Is the vignetting manually added?

Re: Portrait of (a) Lady
Yes it is Jack .. sort of .... I ran a draganiser action over it, then a soft portrait filter and then burned around the edges to taste!
Here's the original photo for comparison.

Re: Portrait of (a) Lady
Firstly apologies if this hasn't come out right, but I'm in a conservatory on laptop & I'm struggling to see the dark colours correctly. Here's a quick attempt on your version Cathie :-
![]() Steps I took are :- - Using black soft brush at 100% opacity go aorund the ears & top of head to get rid of any halo. Don't be afraid to go on to hairs of dog. - We are tring to recreate a shot taken in dark room with strong light source, so therefore you need to get dark colours on the dogs face. - To do this I duplicated layers & then using levels I pulled the left slider in until the face darkened enough. The ears completely dissappeared into darkness, but no probs. I then masked back the ears to shot below ![]() - The face to right on the shot was still too light, so used "burn" on shadows at 4% & darkened it down - Finally flattened layers & applied Smart Sharpen at 30%, 1 pixel. You caould much better with decent screen & taking your time. Hope it's of some use ![]() BTW, handsome dog

Re: Portrait of (a) Lady
Had my own play, and reverted to a more contemporary style, a BW dragan-ish, and a soft high key, wonder what you think?

Re: Portrait of (a) Lady
Thank you thank you thank you Dave...... (there is no "we are not worthy emoticon)
I'll be back .................................................. ...... Jack ... #2 is cool - normally I like sepia shots, but in this case it seems to lose her distinctive markings a little bit .... Last edited by CathieT; 06-07-2007 at 15:22. |
