Pyrocantha-Forrest Flame

Just trying out my recently aquired powershot S5 in macro mode. The red leaf buds are only 5/8ths of an inch long. All comments appreciated

Re: Pyrocantha-Forrest Flame

thats very nice john, my one prob is that u seemed to have focused on the leaves rather than the buds? but then its early and maybe my eyes arent focusing themselves yet! lol

Re: Pyrocantha-Forrest Flame

I think the focus is kind of in the middle of the plant, which is fine because some of the buds are in focus, just the front one isn't. The exposure looks very good too, great colours.

Looks good from here! Focus and colour all look good

Was having a play with a Canon PowerShot A570 IS and it was great how good the shots were! Strangely, the greatest difficulty was macro - it wanted to focus on the vegetation behind, so I had to manual focus to get the shot. Bearing in mind that it cost all of £100, the facility to take any shot was there (totally manual if you wanted) - and ISO1600, if you really wanted (pretty noisy)

Re: Pyrocantha-Forrest Flame

I like the picture. I do not have any problem with the focus and the colours look right.

I always enjoyed my S2 until it broke recently. I will have to get the S5. I use it as a travel camrea when my 40d would be too big.

I will have to have a look for some good deals on the S5
