Great colour, love the way the flower just pops out from the dark background. The water droplets really add to it too, very pretty!

Hi VeddieEdder and welcome back

Its a great shot to open with, the exposure on the head of the flower is spot on and the dark, out of focus background, allows the subtle colours and texture of the rose to show through. The added water drop from the rain is a nice finishing touch

Re: Rainy day blues, got a roof over your head?

Thank you for the words of praise!!

Only thing I dont get on the new forum, is why did some people retain their post count. Ive posted before on the old site (not a ton), but this technically isn't my first post.

The rain droplets were indeed a great extra touch! I was at my buddies house where I go to play a bit of guitar and rock my agressions out, and he wasnt answering his door. I looked into his backyard, and noticed this one lone flower. Fortunately I always have my camera on me. Reason number 1,258 to always have your camera.

Re: Rainy day blues, got a roof over your head?

Ref post counts…
This site had to be started using an older database and so all of us here have lost an amount of posts, both data and post count, and some more than others. Some of the unlucky ones that had registered in the two weeks prior to TPF closing have been affected even harder by losing their account here completely and unfortunately we have no way to contact those ex members to explain the situation.

Again we can only apologise for that and look to the future, not the past. Some may eventually find their way back

Hi VeddieEdder and welcome back. Can only agree with what Jewels, Steve etc have said. The dark background & water droplets really make it an excellent shot.

Not really into flowers, but can see this is a well taken shot. How did you manage to get the background so dark with impacting the flower ?

Re: Rainy day blues, got a roof over your head?

Somewhat of a happy accident, I often manually bracket shots, I liked this one the best. Then a little bit of curves adjustment until I liked it. Im not PS whiz by any means, I just try things until I like them. I know that popping the flash probably had something to do with the background darkening.

And floweres aren't my thing either. But sometimes when you see something beautiful, it screams to be captured. This rose caught my eye.
