Good stuff.

I guess they look dark due to the contrast between the white on the car and the surroundsings. That makes it difficult for the metering.

Cheers guys, I have not played with these much and as I always under-expose I need to make them brighter I agree.

In my book, its easier to make shots brighter then it is to fix blow outs.

I like all of those - I'm utter poo at sports myself.
And keep under-exposing - dark and moody works for me - I've had my fill of light, bright and upright for the local rags (or light, bright and ****e as we called them!)
