A real lifeboat rescue
The Tynemouth lifeboat was called out at 10 this morning to a man who'd been taken ill on a small craft at the river mouth. Within 10 minutes the crew had turned up, launched and he'd been taken aboard the lifeboat and returned to the quayside and waiting paramedics. The lifeboat was on its way back before the ambulance turned up, and the ambulance station is closer than many of where the lifeboat crew live.
    The RNLI doesn't get a penny from government and relies completely on public donations. www.rnli.org.uk |
