Really not sure about this one...

I took this at the weekend and I love it but is it a "good" picture? I don't know if blurring of two of the dogs detracts from the picture or adds to it. Would welcome your thoughts? They are playing by the way!

Playing? With teeth like that Looks a bit of a one-sided affair. You've got focus on the middle dog (what's his name, Fang?) and the fact that the other two dogs are blurred suggests ther movement. Overall the DOF looks about right, maybe a tighter crop but yes I think it's a good shot.

Re: Really not sure about this one...

From a shot perspective it works, as you have point of focus to concentrate on & the blurring gives impression of movement. That aside the shot to most people would look a bit scary with those teeth

Re: Really not sure about this one...

Personally, would prefer a tighter crop - down and in to close to edge of black dog. That would place the focal point off centre, which I prefer. Having said that, like the movement and subject

Hi Angela, just wondering if you are involved with the rescue centres for Lurchers & Greyhounds. Great pets to have for those not in the know. Most amazing fact for me was how little exercise they actually need

Hi Dave, yes, I am involved with an organisation called Greyhound Gap that finds homes for both Greyhounds and Lurchers. We focus mainly, but not exclusively, on the dogs that are in a "put to sleep" situation, are elderly, or that no-one else wants for any number of reasons. Greyhounds in particular need very little exercise, they're not called "40mph couch potatoes" for nothing! Lurchers can need more exercise, depending on their cross.

Thanks for the suggestions re cropping, it definitley looks better for that!

The tighter crop really works - We have friends with rescue greyhounds and involved around Ely. Lovely dogs.
