Recent Pics
These were all taken at a place called Burton Bradstock on the Dorset coast, on saturday. (except for Bhosta Beach, and that's on North Harris)
Fantastic place, and I was gutted as it faces west-ish and the people I was with wouldn't let me stay for the sunset! I'm using the last one as my entry to the OCUK forum compo. Sop if you;'re a judge from there (although I don't think any use this site) then **** OFF! ![]() ![]()

I cheat a little, well, alright, a lot.
I use a script for PS called 'Mikes Framer' If I remember correctly, it used to be free but he now charges for it. I did see a tutorial on how to do it, but I can't remember where. It could've been on here or in a magazine. Have a google for Mikes Framer anyway, he only charges a couple of quid and i find it better than extensis photo framer, whicj I could never get to produce anything that didn't look awaful. Anyway, just a couple more snapshots from Burton Bradstock........ My friends son, who just loves to pose, but you try getting him to be sensible for a shot. Bless the little ![]() ![]() ![]()

LOL!!! Very good dude.
I think the option of critique is down to the OP. I personaly welcome all comments and critique, whether on here or the critique forum. I can't speak for other more 'sensitive' types though. Steve did make a good point to me when I joined, not everybody has enough time to critique every photo, and if, like I have, you post alot of images in one post it can be very time consuming! But yeah, critique away! |

Cheers mate, I was'nt going to going to massive detail, just mention a couple of things that popped to mind, but I undestand what you mean about the touchy types, lol
I was going to ask if you've done any smoothing (eg, neat image) on the float and boat shot, because the sand and mud on the right look a touch ghostly, if you know what I mean, might just be my old eyes though. And the only other thing I was to ask about, is the strong sharp edge to the possible mask on "Luke" as I have this problem too, I dont know what to do around the hairline. As I said already, love them all. |

Yeah, float and boat was run through noise ninja, and i thought I'd masked most of the image, obviously missed those bits though, and it's only now you mention it I can see it. Sometimes a second pair of eyes is a good thing! I have to use some kind of NR filter as the kodak compact just has way too much noise, especially blue channel, even at ISO 80.
The photo of the boy was masked, yes. Guilty as charged!, It was done so I could add gaussian blur to the background as it wasn't oof enough for my liking. Again a limitation of the compact as it has too great a DoF. I think the answer to that one is either a) spend hours making an intricate mask, or b) use a higher feather radius. I used about 3px on that one and on reflection, probably could've gotten away with ten or so. I think the sharpening at the end has only compounded the problem though. But, all that said. I was generally pleased with results for the day. especially as the camera only cost £200 odd quid with the printer/dock. Which I may add, is only 6x4 but produces great snapshot prints! |
