Re: RED KITE..
Detail's pretty good but there seems to be a slight green tinge to the underside
Keep meaning to go to Gigrin as I pass that way fairly regularly. What times do they feed and how many other people were there? |

Re: RED KITE..
Super shots
altho' I'm thinking about that last comment, 'cos it does indicate a sense of scale, i.e. where the bird is in relation to ground level.)

Re: RED KITE..
Wonderful! I quite often get that greenish look on the underside. I'm fairly sure it's reflection from the grass.

Re: RED KITE..
Looks like a white balance issue to me, like a tungsten setting
Try setting the WB manually + not rely on auto.

Re: RED KITE..
Charlotte, as a matter of interest, I have tried removing the green cast using white balance in Camera Raw but the other colours are affected too much. Also, I only seem to get it when the birds are over grass. I would be interested in your thoughts, or anyone else's, because if I could prevent it I would be delighted.

Re: RED KITE..
John, on a bright day like in these shots, I would suggest a polariser. This would reduce the reflection of light from the grass
Unfortunately I don't have the time just now to have a go with these particular images, so am mentally working blind now, by saying the first thing I'd do in the 'digital darkroom' would be to alter the colour balance by shifting the tint slider in the WB setting (not the main WB slider) toward the magenta, i.e. away from green. It is usually a very fine adjustment to get this setting just right. I think you'll find that does the trick Edit: And don't forget to set the WB manually - auto does get it wrong sometimes. |
