Ok i've got a few again from today which i'm pretty made up with.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All taken with my 70x300mm zoom lens. Definitely my favourite at the moment. And only one thing. The eyes are not red but how do you get them normal coloured? |

Re: Red squirrels in Formby
Beautiful creatures and I hope the greys are kept at bay so we can see more of them. I'd like to go to Formby sometime but my passport's expired.
Thanks for sharing. You can cure the eyes manually by desaturating and burning, but apps such as Paint Shop Pro (X, XI, X2) have a red-eye feature which is also supposed to deal with (non-red) animal eyes. (Advert over. ) |

Great selection! We went there a few weeks ago - was great seeing them (slightly to my surprise - I was prepared not to see any at all!)
![]() I assume you used a flash? which is being reflected in the eyes. Desaturated eye, filled it with black and then placed a catchlight |

Re: Red squirrels in Formby
Although it's almost impossible to go to Formby and not fall over the squirrels it's surprisingly difficult to get good pictures so well done.
Were they spooked by the flash at all or did they just ignore it? I was there a couple of weeks ago and might have done better if I'd used flash but assumed they'd just run off if I did. cheers Dan |

No they weren't scared after the flash at all. Infact the first 2 photo's are from the same squirrel, and he just stayed there for a few seconds. Markulous i like the way you've done it. Looks a lot better.
But it is fairly easy to get good shots of them. Although you need a good day with sunlight and a good spot, which my two little toddlers had found for me as they were hunting after them But they come nearby and even eat out of your hand if your lucky. They are so used to people. This weekend there is a special red squirrel weekend organised in formby for the interested people.
