Richmond Park (again) [6 images]

Today was another trip to Richmond Park, in search of the infamous Richmond Parakeet, some deer, and nice scenery, and came away with all 4!!!
Here are some of the nicest images:

THE PARAKEET! (x2), Panasonic FZ7 (for zoomness):

And again:

And this time a nice river, I liked the lighting:

The lighting on this deer was so perfect:

The stag decided he would test the mettle of a possible bride, with bad consequences. I wouldn't let my children get this close....

And finally a lovely sunset to cap it all off:

Hope you liiiike

Regards,
Jack

Some nice shots there J I think the parakeets could do with even more 'zoomness' (I like that word ) I really like the river shot, the exposure is good, with a nice wide tonal range The lone deer came out nice + sharp; pity he was so near to the fenced trees tho'. The frisky stag shot came out well; had you thought about cropping some off the top + LHS? Looks like you had a good day out

The river is lovely, you're right about the lighting, gorgeous I love the stag but could do without so much space for it to get lost in. I would crop that back a fair bit and let us so the subject in close up. This is an example of where cropping it for print might be diffcult without it looking pixellated but cropping the 300dpi original to show on the internet would work fine as you are only showing 72 dpi.

Those kids are a pain but their parents should've been shot for letting them stress the deer by getting so close. Good image though and captures the story of what is happening as well as serving as an educational shot about how to behave with wild animals in the countryside.

Can't say the sunset does much for me, perhaps taken a bit too early. When the sun gets below the level of the cloud is when you get the really rich colours so worth thinking about for the future. I have never heard of the Richmond Park parakeets but they are ok. That was your quarry and you captured them on camera so good on you. Images don't do a huge amount for me but I am sure a twitcher would love em

Good images of a good day out.

Cheers,
Rob

Yes I agree. The angle was a bit rubbish (they were high upin the tree), and this was the furthest in the FZ7 could get. I could make a crop, and see how that is, but I don't trust it much seeing as it had to be shot in jpg.

Thanks, I did make a crop of a couple of the stag ones I got, but they weren't as interesting as that one, I mean, the stag wasn't doing anything

Thanks Fi, I thought they came out quite well too.

Would you? I hadn't thought of that. I think this was a D50 image (ie: RAW / NEF) so I could try that, I thought the space was alright, but I can see what you mean.

To be honest, they weren't as close as they look I don't think. Also, I think it was more the stag causing the problems, it is nearly rutting season, and he was testing out mates, and chasing them around

I had one nicer image of the sunset with slightly better colours, but the composition was a little off. I'll see if I can work on it. Also, I got it just as we were leaving, so I couldn't really wait around (it was damned cold )
With the parakeets, they didn't do anything for me either, but that's jpg from an FZ7 for you, the colours were a bit off, but as you said, it was the capturing of them that was important for me, I mean, I had spent about 20 minutes sneaking up on them, only for them to sit completely still for ages!

Thanks for all the kind comments! Didn't expect that many. Anyone else who has anything to add is welcome
