Nice shot there Boon. Possibly increase "Yellows" Saturation whilst lowering "lightness" in same edit.

That's very nice Boon. Maybe give it a little more contrast? That should make it jump out a bit more whilst increasing the saturation at the same time.
Lovely composition

I think your only allowed one shot in critique - thats possibly why.
Love the composition - second is my preferred choice of the two, the black frame allows it to stand out more. The subject makes a great contrast to the colour of the flowers to the right, good light with no unsightly reflections. Great shot - reminds me of the pics you get in classic car books, well done |

Nice shot Boon. I think the composition works especially well.
The border really suits the image too. Rich |

thank you for the explanation, but could i just ask why is that rule in place anyway, how do we expect people to help and adjust our photo's and keep posting back if you are only allowed one photo a day, only uploading one per day for the sharing thread would be more appropriate, i think anyway. thank you |

First I need to quote the rules from each section although I am sure you are already aware of them. From the rules.. Taken from “photo sharing” Quote:
Quote:
The photo sharing section on the other hand is quite simply there for people to cut their teeth in, show what they have been shooting recently, mass post many pictures from one or many shoots (something like the recent Donna Nook visit or last years trip to Silverstone), where the shots are all going to be similar or the member doesn’t want every slight mistake or oversight bringing to their attention. It lends itself to more general responses by nature but on occasion will become detailed. I hope that explains and expands on the rules and the differences between the photo sharing and photo critique sections.

What Steve said.
![]() I'd also just make the point that there's nothing to stop people posting edited versions of your shot in the thread, it's the original poster who's restricted to one pic. Where the poster alters his original pic then he should replace the original. If you post a pic in Critique Section, you should really be fairly happy with it in your own mind as you can expect to take a bit of a kicking if you're asking for criticism and it isn't that good - not that I'm saying your shot isn't. If you're saying 'How Can I Improve This Shot?' then really Photo Sharing is the place for that sort of advice.

thank you for the clarification steve, i appreciate it, but i disagree with the comments made. I do not believe that someone needs 24 hours to study the photo's at all, one can usually tell what needs doing 'in their opinion' straight away.
Take for example, i posted my photo at 11.10am and less than 50 minutes later i had 2 replies offering help and advice, to which i had reposted my first photo for their appraisel to find that before another answer got through, it was moved. i am sorry to go on, but i personally think its a stupid rule, but i will abide by it for future postings. thank you

![]() Can I ask you to look back to when the Critique forum was created and read some of the critiques that were posted back then. Not wanting to take anything away from the people that replied to your thread but you will find that excluding a few exceptions, they were all far more detailed and in depth than the ones people GENERALLY receive now. The advice given was spot on and included detail that you simply couldn't get anywhere else on a public forum then or now!! What that proves is that this setup and rule works well for the majority of the time and it's only as the site has grown that the quality has become diluted as people now have more to read daily. If anything that means you should allow even more time for people to consider and reply to a thread not the other way around, especially if you value considered responses.

Also we have some bloody good photographers here now. If they post in Critique they tend to be really good shots, that really do need some looking at to give that poster the valued critique he's looking for. As we've said many times we all like to to hear 'Great shot'! etc, but it doesn't get us anywhere nearly so well as a really subjective honest critique.
