Re: Rugby
I agree number 2 is a great action shot, I have to say (having tried with a number of triathlons) that your sports/action shots are excellent. You really seem to capture the spirit of the event.

Re: Rugby
Thanks, I liked the line out because I caught the peak of the action, but I hate that there are power lines in the background.

Re: Rugby
Hadn't noticed them 'til you mentioned it, the activity here is compelling and draws the eye, I don't think many people would look further than that. If this were a landscape those powerlines might be an eyesore but it's not.

Re: Rugby
Great shots. I'm new to the site as soon as I figure out how to post I will put up some shots of the Youth Rugby club I help coach here in California.

Re: Rugby
Maybe because I was looking critically, but the first thing I noticed with the line-out shot was the goal post coming out of the guy's head! However, that didn't hold my attention for long as I was captured by the rest of the picture, really great timing and a tremendous capture from a classic rugby moment. The first one captures the activity of the scrum though it is cropped just a tad too tight at the top. The man kicking the ball is also a bit too tightly cropped in for me, I like the subject to have room to maneouvre.
But that second shot is worthy of any sports magazine, really excellent work. Cheers, Rob

Re: Rugby
Even though that was a quick fix and there is a bit of tell-tale sign, it is immediately clear how much the picture is improved.... from 95% perfect to 99%.... a great shot

Re: Rugby
I really think the edited line out shot is terrific.
The scrum shot seems a bit in between. It is either too tight or not tight enough. I like the shot of the kicker. One gets a good feel for the power of the kick with the blurred ball and foot, but I agree with Rob, he needs a bit more space. It seems like he is kicking the ball into the frame ![]() However, your action shots are some of the best I have seen. skip |
