Running hounds
*deep breath - first photo posting*
Having mentioned them in my introduction, I think it only fair to introduce those responsible for what has turned into an expensive hobby! They like running, aot... Action shots evade me, but these seemed to be some of the better attempts. Much scope for improvement, either in the actual shooting or in post-production (which is something I've not really dabbled with... yet!). Murphy ![]() Lucy ![]() Meg ![]() And the 3 of them. Probably not technically great, but I love their expressions and the reminder that they can be good sometimes. ![]() All comments, tips, advise, improvements greatfully received.

Re: Running hounds
Hi Ali, welcome to pixalo
![]() No need to be nervous about your first post here ... you're safe this time around, as this is the sharing section, and we save our savagery for the critique section ![]() Ok to your photo's : Murphy - I like this one. I would crop out the distracting bits of sky at the top, about half an inch crop should do it. Lucy - Liking this one as well, with good DoF here. The point of sharp focus has just missed her eyes (1st rule of portraits - human + animal) which is a shame, but otherwise, it's a good image. Meg - Another good one, + quite an amusing one I think ![]() The 3 of Them - Definitely best of the bunch for me. Don't know how you got them to pose for you, but it's a goodie Only thing I would say is the foliage at the back is a bit distracting, it would've been better if you'd moved them round on the plain grassy patch (looks like a path) for a plain background.Generally, you've achieved good exposure, focus + depth of field, + you've caught their characters + frozen the action well, so they are all pass marks in my book

Re: Running hounds
The second and the fourth are the best. We don't eat our young here until their second post.

Re: Running hounds
I agree with Charlotte that Murphy's shot could do with losing the sky at the top, and possibly some at the bottom so he's not vertically dead centre.
I've seen that third shot before and I love it to bits! The way they're all leaning just makes me giggle everytime I see it! A good test to start your post-processing skills would be to clone out the leads, which are a bit of a distraction. |

Re: Running hounds
Good first set!
Yeah lose the sky on the first one perhaps adjust the levels a little on the second (it seems a tiny bit underexposed...) The third one is good! The last one is hilarious And actually good comp! (I like the leads angela!)

Re: Running hounds
I agree with most of the comments above, the speed you caught in the first one is amazing and the fourth shot is fantastic and definitely one of the best 'dog' shots I've seen!
