Salford Quays

I was picking up my wife from Manchester Airport yesterday afternoon so thought I would have half an hour at the Quays first. I'd never been before so went with an open mind and it was a very hazy day. TFL.

Re: Salford Quays

I love the last one, a perfect example of symmetry creating balance in a picture. This bridge and buildings has appeared here two or three times in the last few months and I know it is a difficult job to get the right composition, angle and so forth so I admire greatly the fact you have really pulled one off so well.

I don't usually see faces in things so no calling the local psychy hospital but there is a definite 'face' in this one... but if you can't see it I am not going to be responsible for sending you over the edge so just don't look for it ok? <g>

Good work Stepheno, not gonna go through them all though they are fine, I just love the last one, the lines work extremely well.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Salford Quays

Good set there, the first two made me think I must travel up there, as an upcoming camera club comp theme is triangles.

Re: Salford Quays

Was at Manchester Airport a couple of times recently and really should pay attention to the possibilities!

#1 Classic 'down the middle' shot - works well with the figures to give scale

#2 Interesting abstract quality - would've preferred perspective correction to give horizontal railing along the bottom

#3 My fave with those reflections tho' does need a 'kick up the pants'!

#4 Not too sure of this - think it'd look better without the building on RHS (never mind straight!)

#5 Classic 'down the middle' 2 which might benefit from having someone closer to the camera

#3 Rehashed:

Adjusted levels, curves, saturation, sharpen

Thanks for the comments guys - a good pimp Mark. I will go back and spend more time but on a weekday, it's quiet.

Re: Salford Quays

#4 needs just a quick perspective change on the right side then it will rock. The contrasting lines and curves are really nice to look at. #5 is just perfect as it is.

Re: Salford Quays

Great set Stepheno

#1 is my favourite, I like this one a lot.
#2 is too confused for my taste. You've got equal focus on everything from front to back, which doesn't look right in this shot somehow, it's got my eyes darting all over the place but not settling anywhere.
#3 needs rotating ever so slightly clockwise. This is a lovely shot, which Mark has really brought to life in his pimp.
#4 also needs rotating clockwise. Also a bit busy for my taste.
#5 I like, especially the symmetry which you got dead on.

Well done there, Stepheno

Re: Salford Quays

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to comment on individual photos. I find that sort of feedback allows one to see other aspects of a shot like Gary's comment and Charlottes about the business of #2
