Sandyachts at Dusk

This was taken on the beach at St Gilles as the sun was dropping down and enriching the colours and making it a very pleasant place to be! I like the shot and hope you do to...

Now, just to get a few different eyepoints on this one, tell me what you think. Do the walking people add to it, spoil it or not make much difference one way or the other? No right or wrong answers so just cast your votes now folks...

Cheers,
Rob

Great shots, I'd probably go for the one without the people in it but both very nice.

Re: Sandyachts at Dusk

Figures are not really in a good spot (altho' not really fussed either way!) but if pushed, I'd suggest without, as well as lowering the saturation, removing the muddy borders and maybe even B/W the shot (well, you were never just going to get the simple yes/no from me were you? )

Not lightly either, as I reckon it's much more difficult to achieve a good mono than colour - but think this would work well

Re: Sandyachts at Dusk

I'm not fussed either way. If I would choose then with the person on the background. It looks more natural to me.

I like the shot though.

Re: Sandyachts at Dusk

Ok, here is a mono conversion just to keep our Mark happy

So, better in colour or mono? Go on, you know you love polls

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Sandyachts at Dusk

i like the colour but the mono does have something about it maybe its those really dark markings on the sails. is it possible to get rid of the people and then mono it as there reflection annoys me when i look at the fron sail other than that

Re: Sandyachts at Dusk

This is a nice subject and well captured.
My preference is for the colour photo without the people. The mono is also pleasing but I feel the sky loses the impact that it has in the colour images.

Re: Sandyachts at Dusk

Mono is definitely my choice here, the range of tones is so wide and eye catching that I think it loses its impact in colour, for example the sky is much more powerful in the mono. Forgot to take the people out tho didn't you

Re: Sandyachts at Dusk

This is a lovely photo, which ever way you do it, don't like the brown frame though, and the people are just as well left out, I like the mono too, yep, just a nice photo !
