I was about 10 meters with a 100-400mm lens, the storm surge has not washed them all away but the RAF were doing testing so I couldn't get out to the waters edge. Went about a mile south and walked through the salt marsh mud and water getting very muddy and wet but all the seals were inside the danger area. Now that wouldn't normally stop me but they were flying some big planes on bombing runs today so thought better of it. Will try again early one weekend morning, and I do mean early as the car parks fill up from about 7.00.

Cool. I've seen some overkeen people walk right up to these poor things for a photo and predictably they go back into the sea.

These were taken from behind the fence at the car park at Stonebridge. There are so many so close it is amazing. I wouldn't wander that close out on the beach not only out of respect for the animals but also these things can give a nasty bite you know.

No they'll be fine but people should realise they're out the water so they can rest and warm up. Pushing them back in for a photo is quite exceptionally thoughtless. But no matter, Gary's behaved quite correctly

Good shot, and story, like seeing what color the pup's are, the pup's along the pacific california coast are a light brown.
