stepheno....

the amount of times i drove down that road in the last year and a half is no ones business, and i awlays intended to pull over and take that shot....

however, the pylon really put me off every time, and i think it realy spoils what would be a great shot,

Which road is that then?

Actually makes the bridge look delicate! Tis a shame about the pylon.

Appreciate the comments guys. I don't know the area that well but if memory serves me it's on Aust Old Passage or something like that.....and yes, the pylon is a b****r. I nearly didn't bother because of it. I found one without the pylon but it still has the cables. I felt I should clone out the clutter at the waters edge but then......

....and here's one of the Severn Bridge.

i like the last picture the best,

as for the name of the road, all i know is that it goes from the services at the end of the bridge down towards avonmouth , talking of the services, if you go to the far end of the car park you get a realy nice view of the bridge , and a better photogrpahic position to,

Nice pics but as a Bristolian I must correct you.

The old one is called The Severn Bridge. The new one (which you have called 'The First Severn Bridge) is called The Second Severn Crossing.

Matt.

Great shots Stepheno, tis a shame about the pylon but I like the way it makes the bridge look so small. The last two are excellent. Well done.

Thanks, Matty and Ken for the encouragement. As a non-Bristolian I humbly apologise for moving their bridges around

Nice shots Stepheno, well captured, pity about the pylon though.

I think that the first shot would have quite a powerful graphical composition in place if the bridge weren't in the way and it was just the pylon (and wires) playing against the rainbow

It is a real shame about the pylon but the sky and the rainbow in the first picture give a great backdrop to the bridge which contrasts well. Even though the pylon is a distraction I still think the picture was worth taking to capture the mood and that moment of time. Is it me or is the picture slightly soft though?
