The Shambles - again
Since I've had Lightroom, I've been re-visiting some of the shots from my recent trip to York. The program certainly has great control features that I'm sure have enabled me to obtain better images with less work. The recovery and fill controls are almost miraculous (that's Mark's Auntie Mira).
In this shot, the shadow detail under the eaves was just not there in the original, and the fill feature brought it out with little or no effect on the rest of the image. ![]() |

Re: The Shambles - again
I liked lightroom but ordered CS3 instead. I like this photo too. Glad it worked out for you.

Re: The Shambles - again
Thanks for the feedback
I was aware of the empty space in the FG, but unfortunately, only riff-raff were available to fill the gap, so I opted to leave them out! The underside of the overhang is probably on the light side for the given lighting, but I'll put that down to beginner's over-enthusiasm. I think that Bridge in CS3 has similar controls to Lightroom, so I'm wondering should I have just gone for CS3? Lightroom does have its advantages, so I'm happy enough. Any CS3 owners out there, please don't say bridge is a s good as LR. Please! I'm working on a picture taken from the other side of the building on the RHS taken with very different lighting where the strong Sun has caused both burn-out and deep shadows, and LR continues to impress.
