Sheep - help or hindrance? 7 x 200k
I suggested in this shot of Howden Dam that sheep were to be taken seriously. Are they stupid or incredibly intelligent, pretending to be stupid? There are regional differences as well as cultural:
A couple of your average Welsh sheep, out for the day watching, in this case, the unfit humans puffing and panting their way up Pen y Fan. These sheep are totally unresponsive to command or suggestion and don't care if they would look better in the corner of your picture ![]() This is about as good as it gets, in this case Cadair Idris. Can't be a**** to move (however much you shout, gesticulate or go red in the face) but are faintly willing to be shot (only by camera, however many times you may wish it was a gun!). Generally these sheep just run away. ![]() You can see how sneaky sheep can be. Here they are, playing dead and, of course, totally unco-operative ![]() As I mentioned Welsh sheep will run away - indeed most sheep will. You get used to sheep running away. That is until you meet the Peak District Sheep, a wholly different beast, who rather than flee actually do the reverse and run towards you. Theory suggests that it's because they hope you have food but it's my belief that they're wolves in sheep's clothing. You have been warned! ![]() And then there are New Zealand sheep. Possibly because they participated in Lord of the Rings (when they ran short of dwarves, I believe) and so can take direction, these fair animals actually do respond to requests. "A little further to the right" and sure enough they'll oblige ![]() Another shot one of of my friends. And this is actually on location of LOTR set - look carefully and you can see Gandalf, I'm sure ![]() Finally, there's the Smartarse Sheep. Usually sporting a degree in Media Studies or some such, but always quick with the cutting and hurtful remark (well, I can come to Pixalo for those!) ![]() I hope you have found this brief guide useful. And remember good people, that if you are being menaced by a sheep, shouting "Mint sauce" may well have the desired effect

Re: Sheep - help or hindrance? 7 x 200k
LOL Mark, nice one.
You could also shout: 'Hey, I knew your aunty.... she was delicious!' might also show them who's boss. Veggies might not like that of course but then they rely on nuts for sustenance <g> so they have to live with people like me ![]() Cheers, Rob |

Re: Sheep - help or hindrance? 7 x 200k
I tried to get feedback from the sheep concerned but they just looked menacingly and said 'Baaaaa, you think you can scare us with all that talk of mint sauce? Well, we can't hear you anyway, we're all mutton jeff mate .... well, mutton anyway!'
Ok, I'll get my coat

Who the heck is Gandalf?
Love the sheep playing dead. And the New Zealand photos. Beautiful country and the people are great! Intelligent, talented.... the list goes on. |
