I think the first for me too. Is it my newly calibrated monitor, or are they quite dark?
Believe me it could very well be my monitor.

yes the backround around the first one is totally dark, but i have 2 monitors (one flat and a normal one) and except this the histogramm of greyscale is full

i took only a few of this serie .. too less .. i shall retry
like you i am not satisfied

As Eosd said, 1 for me like the spiral effect but just not enough interest for me. Also the crop is not as close on the left of the frame as with the other 3 sides...however, i'm not sure as too whether the crop is a little too close on those 3 sides.
