OK the year is coming to an end. If you had to choose just one shot from what you have taken in 2006, which one would it be & why
It might be a shot that is personal to you & reminds you of a certain time/place/person, or it could be shot that proved to yourself how you have improved over the year. Post that shot in this thread |

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
This is probably one of my faves for 2006 as it was the first time ive been to an airshow and I really enjoyed the day, I was really surprised to get so many "keepers" from the day but this one i really do like.

Here is my one. Don't think I need to explain why.

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
For me it has to be this shot. With such a passion for Mono's, this shot encapsulated everything I love about the subject......the tones, texture & drama of gthe scene. I was now getting to a point in my post processing of Mono's where I was starting to get the results I had always been after
![]() Only problem is I have lost the original full size file, so can't get it printed

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
This is a picture of the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles I took this June. Disney Hall was built by Frank Gehry, photographers' best friend under the contemporary architects. It is yet another example of a case of someone taking a picture of a detail of some building, rotating it by 90 degrees and then calling it art.
![]() To me it looks like a mountain with its reflection in a lake. It looks more like nature than an artificial structure, even though it clearly is man-made. This is a theme I have been fascinated with for quite a while, but usually it is time (and the decay coming with time) that causes this effect and not the artificial structure itself through its design. It took me more than an hour (and about ten sub-optimal shots) to get this picture right. What you see is entirely un-cropped and has seen very little post processing; I messed only with the white balance to get that blueish-cold feel . Let me know what you think, Peter |

My granddaughter Naomi. This was taken when I had just got my 50mm lens.

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
Well this has got to be mine
I had the lend of a Canon 10-22mm lens from a friend to see how I'd get on with an ultra wide angle lens. The aspect's of the shot that I find most satisfying are the spontaneity of the shot (I just noticed them while passing in the car, reversed back, jumped out and grabbed the shot). The other was the result's from the processing the shot needed as I hadn't used flash when I took the shot. I liked the shot so much I ordered a Sigma 10-20mm lens not long after

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
It is very difficult to pick just one but I think this is it.
I was covering my first concert and managed to capture this image of the lead guitarist from the Imperial Vipers. For me, it just screams Rock 'n' Roll.....

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
I think probably this one
![]() It was taken on the day we marched in London to raise awarenes of the plight of ex-racing greyhounds. For me, it sums up what all of us involved in rescue should be about......the dogs. Technically I got lucky! The light was perfect, the eye contact was there and the composition, with the hound looking out from behind his owner's leg, was just right! |

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
I guess this is my favourite just because I know how hard it was to capture it (hey, i got lucky!) as I was being shaken to death on the front of an airboat on Lake Tohopekaliga in Florida. The lens has image stabilisation but even with that I needed to really hold myself as still as I possibly could to get this. I was focused on the Florida Heron when it was stood in the reeds but then it was spooked by us and took off. This image is my favourite of two I took (most people here have seen both) because I love the side profile shape that it gives.
I am not claiming it is a wonderful ornithological wildlife shot, but for me I was delighted to capture it. Cheers, Rob

Re: Show us your favourite shot for 2006
I 'went off' photography for a couple of years until I get my new [used] 20D in July and took it on holiday to the Outer Hebrides.Consequently I have very few photos taken this year.I like this version of the stones at Callanish: ![]() |
