Processed the RAW of this in bibble pro before resizing in photoshop. I had been on the fence for several months about what raw software I wanted to use. I use Mac's, so I looked at Aperture. Tried out Lightroom and a few others but I always came back to bibble.

I've been patiently waiting to buy some better lenses. This is just the kit lens my D50 came with. I've been using point and shoot digitals for the last 6 years and before that all my lenses were manual Nikkors and I had used manual 35mm bodies's. So I didn't have a bunch of AF lenses to just start playing with when I managed to squeeze the money out of my budget for a dSLR.

Never used Bibble, but obviously from your testing, it does the job well.

Ref lenses which ones are you heading towards ?

I want to start out with the Sigma DG 105mm F2.8 macro for my next purchase. For doing portrait and macro shots.

Everything I have read and sample photos I have looked at indicates that is a very nice lens for the money.

After that I am thinking a Nikon 18-200 f3.5-5.6..

Those two should keep me busy for a while.

The Sigma get's great reviews and seems an excellent lens for the price... I'm not up to date on Nikon lenses as I'm a Canon man but the 18-200mm range will give you a great multi-purpose walkabout lens

Our furniture is pre-scratched, having 3 other cats.. At least he isn't going to start chewing everything like our dog did.

I believe a Sigma lens review is one of the things that brought me here before I signed up. There are some stunning photos out on the internet taken with that lens and the body I have.

That 18-200 is their current "Everyone's gotta have it, order now and when they come in we'll ship it to you" compact lens with all the latest and greatest gizmos in it. I'm thinking that I want it instead of getting the 55-200 to complement my 18-55 just so I'll have one lens instead of two and less swapping to do. I know there are shots I would pass over if it meant swapping a lens out just for one or two shots..

I did have the 18-200 lens for a few weeks, after a 2 month wait. Unfortunately I had already invested in the 17-55mm f/2.8 in the meantime, so had to let it go .

Did take a few test shots here with it, but don't despair of image quality vs the other lenses, as it was up against a £1K lens & one of the best prime lenses :- Budget prime vs Premium Zoom vs Pro Zoom lens

I did find the build quality excellent on the lens, & as a walk about lens would be hard to beat
