Having seen Danpen's superb shots it reminded me of some shots I took last winter when bored. They were done using a incense stick against a black background and the flash to one side to highlight the smoke. It gave some interesting shots and was great fun to do.

Very interesting shots on a similar theme. i like the ones without the incense stick in shot best. This would allow rotation of the images if desired.

I was trying to achieve something like this a while ago and failed miserably. Do you mind if I ask what settings you were using etc?

Really nice. I've never tried this although I've seen a few.

I think I like the first one best, I like the way the smoke changes colour from the bottom to the top.

These were all aperture priority f/20 1/60th using the Sigma 180mm macro lens, all shot on my D70. As I said, it was a wet, cold windy day and I was bored so had a look round the house to see what I could shoot and came up with this, the next day I shot this one, again just experimenting and using a placemat behind the tap to try and catch the reflection. This type of shooting is great fun and you also learn quite a lot as well, I can't wait to try Danpen's soap solution method.

I love that water droplet shot Hacker. You see so many of these nowadays which are obviously faked, the image in the droplet just planted, but this is really clear and genuine. Great stuff.
