Snow Leopards at Marwell (750Kbs)

This set was taken with my Canon 20D and my 300mm f4 IS L series lens which I had been up to London and picked up just a couple of hours earlier. I couldn't wait to try it out so dropped in at Marwell Zoo on the way home and got plenty of shots I am happy with, some of which I have already shown on here. This set is of the Snow Leopards and so I thought I'd put them all in one set and let you decide which ones you like best.

Cheers,
Rob

Cool cats, Rob. The spot of color in the second one caught my eye - tongue, nose and eyes really jump out at you. I'll bet these cats would be fun to photograph with a dark contrasting BG.

Re: Snow Leopards at Marwell (750Kbs)

Couldn't agree more Paul. Unfortunately the enclosure these cats are in is mostly white granite rocks so they tend to blend with the BG a lot. When they go up to the top, there is foliage BG but they seem to argue a lot with each other about who gets to perch up there. As with most of these wildlife scenarios, it is the alpha male who gets top spot and the rest get a devilish snarl if they try and usurp his position!

Still, despite the BG, I came away very happy with my new lens which I had just picked up that day

Cheers for your comments which are invariably encouraging and helpful.

Rob

No. 1 for me, Rob As you say, you can't really choose the BG in this scenario, so we'll overlook that bit

Sounds like you really enjoyed trying out your new lens

Re: Snow Leopards at Marwell (750Kbs)

No.1 for me Rob, mainly due to the background... like you said it's a shame about the granite rocks spoiling thing a bit. I do love the more head on pose in the 3rd shot though, nice detail.
