Re: Snowdrops
Ahhh, that's better
Nice diagonal composition, and there is a nice contrast between the texture and colour of the grass and the flowers, but I think the image could be improved by cropping the RHS and loosing the two snowdrops on the right edge. There is a nice DoF effect, but for me the front flowers are a bit soft, so I would prefer the focus point to be a little nearer the front so that the sharpness starts at the front of the group and recedes into the shot, rather than the soft/sharp/blurred sequence there is now. Overall though, a pleasing image that works well.

Re: Snowdrops
I entirely agree with Graham on all counts. Yes to the crop, yes to getting the front flowers in focus and letting it blur off as it goes back as this gives greater depth to the photo. I would also try and get down another couple of inches so you are looking across at the flower heads and not down. Tough metering situation this as the grass is dark and the flowers very bright so the camera tends to meter for one or the other. I think you've held the light just enough to avoid losing the little bit of detail in the white heads whilst allowing the grass to be seen. You may have lifted the grass slightly and in fact could possibly lift it just a tad further but not complaining, think you've got it as close as you'll reasonably get.
If you can get right down to it and have a macro lens, the best shot of snowdrops actually looks up into the heads to capture the yellow at the centre which breaks up the white a bit more but that is NOT easy to take so only mentioning it, not blaming you for not getting it. I did get that shot once.... along with a cricked neck that ached for days! I have an angle viewfinder now but didn't have then! Good work, Rob
