Snowman Rally

Well it was yesterday and although I'm getting the hang of the sigma I'm disappointed about the overall quality of the shots, technique again, they're all a bit static.
Anyway, here's the best of them

First one is best, for me... apart from there seems to be a leprechaun sat on the roof of the Impreza....

Great shots Dod. Just realised how local you are! The first one is Donnie Macdonald and I spoke to him after the race. He was disappointed that I was not there with camera as he wanted shots of his new car in action.
I went flying instead (as it was a good day) and will be posting some shots of that in a mo!

Took this shot of Donny on Thursday (Went along to press day with him)

Tried slow shutter speed to get movement but I think too much to be a useful photograph.

Was going to go along with a m8 and his lad but the boy got sick so we called it off. I wish I'd gone by myself now, the weather was perfect and you got some very nice shots dod.

I dont know what the problem is, they all look good to me (leprechaun being the exception ).

I think I understand what you mean about a possible lack of action, and I think thats just the dark contrast of the day, not alot of detail that can be seen in most of the shots around the wheels and arches so not too much dust and rubble kicking about. But it is there, and they do look really impressive - green escort is a great shot, looks like hes just left you standing.

Great shots Dod, thanks for sharing

4th one (green escort) is the best for me, It's an image that works well either as a sports image or just as a darn good photo. In general though i definitely prefer the bottom 3 images to the top 3 images. Quality is good throughout just composure is better in the last 3, imo!

Dude, you really need to stop beating yourself up about the quality of your shots. They are of a very high standard and worthy of magazines/stock libraries/whatever!

Ok, so they're not perfect compared to what you had in mind at the time of shooting but I think you need to look at these a bit more objectively.

There's no harm in pushing yourself and wanting to do the best you can, but there comes a point when all you're doing is limiting yourself by being too self critical!

You're not a sagittarian by any chance are you?

I think Doddy may have re-processed these since last time I looked at them. They have more contrast and punch now. No 5 was particularly dark before. They're great shots though and I agree - Doddy is being far too hard on himself.

Sorry CT, haven't touched them, you sure you've not been playing about with the monitor to help those old eyes

Gandhi, cheers, and no, I'm not sagittarian, but I think you're right. I had very specific ideas about what I wanted before I went. I just didn't seem to find the sort of vantage points that would have suited. That and the fact there were pile of official photogs on the spots I did want to be
