Lightbulb Some Sunset Shots

I've only been doing this since June, and not really got the hang of it yet. Learning by doing, and picking up tips here and there.... So here are some to comment on and help me learn

These are Sunset shots i took in Arran from Catacol looking over to Mull of Kyntire

perhaps move to the sharing forum and I will try again tomorrow?

They all exceed the maximum dimensions (800px along the longest edge) also. But anyway, I really like the second one, number 3 was a very near miss and the other two didn't really do a lot for me.

The sky, and you caught the flare from the sun at just the right time (this is what shot #3 was missing, for me).

Personally I would have taken shot #2 in portrait to get more of the sky and less of the water.

Gfk is a hawk at spotting over-sized pics.

Ian you can either resize them to 800 pixels longest side and not exceeding 160kb or just break the links (remove the IMG tags). You'll get better responses to your pics if you resize them and people can see them in the thread. If you get a free album set up for you via Matty the resizing is done for you when you upload.

I got the under 160 I think, but just used large images from flickr for ease - I suppose i could just link to 600. I was just wondering how to use the gallery here - no sticky anywhere about it?

Edit: Made them medium

I just had a quick look - you don't seem to have a Gallery Album set up Ian, although I'm on the outside of a load of Brandy.

If you PM Matty (Admin) he'll set you up an album and a password to get access.

for me, I love the second one, the dramatic cloud formation leads us into the shot and it isn't a photo cut in half like the others. Photo number three is lovely too but I feel it would benefit from a crop of the sky to make the sea the point of interest.

I agree with Marianne about the second photo, it just looks so much better when the horizon isnt in the middle of the picture. This is where the rule of thirds comes into play.
