Re: Something different from me

This is a super shot

Only two recommendations :

The exposure + tonal range is almost perfect ... the 'but' here is the few burnt highlights around her hair + under her chin, which are quite noticeable.

I'd crop a bit off the top, because the little girl is 'going out of the picture' at the bottom, but you have quite a lot of dead space at the top, relatively speaking; I'd say crop off about half of that space.

I love the pose you've captured, she's totally engrossed in something, i.e. a child at play, in her own little world, seemingly unaware of you or your camera, + certainly not distracted by you. A wonderful, natural 'pose' (which, because she's not looking at the camera, is not a pose at all, but I use that word for want of a better one )

I really like this a lot

Thank's Charlotte, what would you recommend with the highlights because i'm crap at PP this was shot in raw, the one thing i love about this shot is the bokeh 200F2.8L, i think she was looking at her new wellies

TBH there's nothing you could do in PP to correct the burnt highlights here, it would be far too fiddly. The answer would have been at the time of capture to dial in less exposure, there's plenty of room for it, as you have very few dark tones, so you could've underexposed a bit. But that doesn't help you with this image. However, because it's an otherwise fabulous shot, I think you get away with it ... only a photographer's critical eye would pick the burnt highlights out here I think, and I feel sure the little girl's family will be thrilled to bits with this picture And you're right, the bokeh here is a very pleasing one. You really did a good job with this, and I wouldn't worry too much about the burnt highlights, as that error is minimised by the quality of the shot in all other respects

Edit: On 2nd thoughts you could try to recover the burnt highlights, since you shot in raw. What raw editor do you use?
