Went for a trip to the park today with the Mrs and decided to play around with my new 55-200 lens - specifically trying to get some really nice shallow DOF (or as shallow as possible anyway :P). This was the pick of the bunch I think, the animal in question was kind enough to pose for me



I think I may have missed the centre focus slightly and caught the tree instead which is a shame, but overall I was quite happy with it (still may crop a little bit off the left so that it's slightly more balanced).

You're right about the focus, but it's not far off. The very bright background is a bit distracting but overall it's a nice shot of a not too easy subject. Your idea of cropping some of the left hand side would, I think, improve it.

I think you may've got the focus spot on, on the nose!

I'd be tempted to crop some of the tree - whatever you do you'll be left with bright sky, so hide in full sight and brighten up the squizzer!
