Stallion show (56k warning!)
We have been given the use of a brood mare later this year and it is my wifes intention to breed a potentially top-flight competition dressage horse so on Sunday we went to a stallion show in Bucks to eye up the talent. It also gave me a chance to get my eye back in. The venue was indoors and the lighting was not good, I had to push to ISO 640 at times and even then I was struggling.
Here are a few from the day with the front runner Walentino being shown first... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Stallion show (56k warning!)
Not lost your touch, then! Nice set, I like #3 and #6. #3 because of the slight blur on the horses legs give some dynamism to the shot.
I'll ask the question that no-one else wants to ask. How much for the stallion? If it an hourly charge, I guess you hope that he is not the romantic type that wants to go for a meal first, and then do all the right things to get the mare in the mood. |

Good set of images under poor lighting conditions. I like 1 and 3.

Quote:
The price varies from stallion to stallion but the first one (Walentino) is £700 + VAT + delivery + vets bills for the AI. My wife was in Germany last weekend looking at many more stallions over there and the price varies from about £400 - £2k depending on breeding, competition results etc. The 'stuff' comes (phnarr phnarr) either fresh, frozen or chilled..... If you do your research and get very lucky you can do well. This stallion here was sold at the age of 2 years for over half a million quid, wouldn't mind a couple like that! ![]() This is another on the short list, called Being Bling and apparently has a good success rate with the ladeez..... ![]() The rest can be seen here if you're vaguely interested!

Re: Stallion show (56k warning!)
I liked 7 and 8 particularly, not that I know a lot about houses or anything like that. They have four legs and hooves and do a lot of prancing about but your pics have come out well.
Feel sorry for the poor horses used for breeding though, they get their services sold for up to £2k and they don't even get a bonk out of it LOL. Cheers, Rob |

Re: Stallion show (56k warning!)
You absolutely nailed it with number 5, the posture is perfect.
What I guess you are gritting your teeth about is the white railing at the bottom of the picture, Real shame that. |

Re: Stallion show (56k warning!)
im sorry i just cant pick a pic that i like the best, cos im spending more time looking at the conformation, extension etc! argh..... its second nature ( having a background in horses) cant take my eye of the animal long enough to look at the pictures.. erm does that make sense....... love the extension in the second one! lolol

Re: Stallion show (56k warning!)
Considering the dire lighting you allmost allways find in these places you've done a great job here Colin, a great set indeed
Good luck with the choice of donor

Re: Stallion show (56k warning!)
Wow, shot 5, that is some extension. Poetry. Really thinks he's the one.
