both very well composed shots, i like the colours too

if i was feeling picky i might clone out the black bit in the bottom right of the 2nd one

Sky looks quite dramatic. I would have taken these in portrait, concentrating on the sky, as there isn't a lot on the ground to look at.

Black and white would probably work well, also.

I think for B&W you need to have a texture for it to show, so I guess the first one would look better in this respect due to the grass being better defined.

I did not shoot this with b+w in mind and so do not feel it would work, I have tried a bw conversion but I tend to find that unless you shoot with the intention of the final image been b+w then it doesn't work too well.
