Still Learning - Bit by Bit
I plan for this first pic to be part of a series: I love the oldie look of sepia!
![]() I'm also trying to do a bathing box series: This will be a little to contrasting from the previous pic, but I'm saving your time! ![]() ![]() ![]() Once again, I really do appreciate your comments both good and bad! It really is a great way to learn - by my mistakes! ![]() Cheers, Kev |

Re: Still Learning - Bit by Bit
Love number 2, very bright, I would have tried to get the whole hut on the far left in shot. Number 3, could possibly do with a slight rotate clockwise, I'm not sure though, it may be that the yellow hut is leaning. Sepia works for the boat, although I would have cropped to remove the lamp post. It could be sharpened a bit too.
I really do love those colours in the huts though. |

Re: Still Learning - Bit by Bit
Agree with Sarah, the first one is fine of the boat but the sky and land could do with some work. I'd crop a bit off the land and clone the lamp-post out completely as it adds nothing to the shot The sky needs bringing down a fair bit, either through burning or by applying a gradient to it as it is much brighter than the boat and distracts from all the interest there. I would also apply some sharpening to it but it may be you had to leave it a bit softer to keep its size down.
In 2 and 3 I would definitely clone out the telegraph cables as they are a distraction. No 2 works ok though I'd crop a bit more off the beach, only a little, not all of it. No 3 though doesn't do a whole lot for me. It is a reportage shot showing us a close-up of someone else's work, the person who painted the beach hut, but apart from being a decent paint job, it doesn't hold my interest for very long. it's all very central with bits of objects around it. Good ideas there and more to be had from at least two of the pictures :o) Cheers, Rob
