Re: still life

Like the glasses, that shot works very well, although perhaps the shot moved over a little to the right so that there isn't so much of a gap on the left. But it works a treat as an abstract still life.
Not so keen on the coffee cup, just feel that needs more space to breath, especially at the top if you see what I mean, but the angle and DOF are good.

Re: still life

I quite like these.

I am still not totally certain about my feelings re the leaning angle shots. It maks the glasses look like they are falling over but vertical may be too normal. I will be interested to see what others say about this.

Re the mug. The highlight at the bottom of the handle is a bit bright and distracting. I am wondering if the spoon would look better he other way round - more spoon like of you see what I mean. Also there is an odd bit of material at the right edge that looks a bit odd.

Re: still life

Oooo, I do like the glasses, very nice indeed

Similar thoughts to those already given on the coffee cup - it seems a bit cramped at the top. Perhaps the spoon across the front of cup... Or the cup handle turned away at a different angle? Although a little more space at the top could be all it needs.

Re: still life

My hat is in the too tight ring for #1 too. Although I don't disagree with the other comments, I think you have made a good job of the shot that only needs some tweaking to be a lot better.

I like the glasses. The only thing I'd say on them is to echo Sarah and say the space on the LHS is the spoiler. You could crop the LHS, losing the conical glasses, or if you shoot them again, shoot from a PoV a bit more the the right with a more oblique angle. However this is a minor point and I bet this would look good as a large print.

Re: still life

Love both of these Fi with the obvious proviso (you do NOT need telling this! ) that the top one is definitely too tightly cropped at top. But that is easily rectified with the dark background. You can easily add a centimetre in there to sort it

The glasses are excellent, really clear and sharp and the angle is excellent.

Both are very well taken and processed so well done.... just stop being so tight with the cropping! <g>

Cheers,
Rob

thanx all, I wasnt 100% sure about the angle on the glasses but straight on was just plain boring............ cant really reshoot as both were taken in a small cafe/ bar in Edinburgh with AWFUL lighting! lol hand held 3rd attempt ( was no room for tripod )

Re: still life

Ok, now tell me you have completely flipped!

Just kidding, but what on earth did you put a strip under the cup for? You want a picture of a mysteriously floating Granary cup? <g> Get rid. Keep the strip at the top which is the only place you needed to put it in the first place!

The glasses is a good shot made even better, love that one so well done

Cheers,
Rob

ps: The picture has now been amended by Fiona so the above doesn't make sense but trust me, it DID look VERY silly
