Re: Still waiting....
I know Dave's been pretty busy the last couple of days, you all might have to wait a bit longer!

Dave and busy in the same sentence unless its connected with his new toy, no way!!all his thoughts are focused on his camera, and how he can get the car he wants without divorce raising its head.Still {some of us hope} that normality will resume ASAP and our lovable Dave will return to the fold where he belongs. I for one wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to him {once again} becoming a responsible member of society Regards Sparhawk |

You mean it has no 'auto' setting?

Re: Still waiting....
Let's just say there are no little icons of faces, mountains, people running etc..
...but you do get your normal "prgram", "shutter" & "aperture" priority & "manual" mode I am impressed how many settings you can change without having to go into menus. I can see why they say its semi pro, as everything is to hand & the amount you can customise within the menus is a bit mind boggling at 1st Gonna be good fun getting up to speed with this one

Re: Still waiting....
Regarding your comment about changing settings without having to use a menu, I am also in favour of ditching the menu wherever possible.
When I bought my last film 35mm camera, the choice boiled down to a Canon T90 or the Olympus OM2 SP. Strictly speaking, I think the Canon was the better camera, but I bought the Olympus because in use, I could make any changes I wanted without taking my eye away from the viewfinder, simply by touch. With the Canon, you had to use a button on the LHS to select a mode, then another button on the RHS to make any changes that were shown in an LCD screen. It is a little ironic that now, one of the reasons I bought a dSLR was to be able to change settings by the use of a button and thumbwheel whilst looking at an LCD screen!! My first digital compact is still in use, because when I was considering getting a newer one, I could not find one that had at least some controls on dials and buttons, and did not rely solely on the b****y menu.
