Re: Street Performer....
Hi Jewel
Shots of street buskers are not always easy. We feel intrusive, and they are there for the money. This shot loses a bit of impact because he is centered, you can't see his face, and there is a bit too much unecessary stuff in the frame. It might set up better in a portrait orientation. In the future you might try listening for a few minutes, applauding, then dropping a buck (canadian ) into the dish, and then get in a bit closer, wait until he is not posing, and get the shots you want. Just a thought.skip |

Re: Street Performer....
O/K I agree with Skip about him being central, but as he is the only person in the scene it emphasises that he is by himself, playing to himself in a world of his own.

Re: Street Performer....
I like it Jewel. I think I might have like to see a bit of the face showing, as the hat makes the face area look really dark.
Love the isolated feel of the pic. |

Re: Street Performer....
I think it's apt that he's sitting outside of what looks like a music shop ... think he's looking to buy a new case for his guitar, just looking at all the duct tape
![]() Would've liked to be able to see his face, + I'd suggest cropping out the doorway with the headless woman exiting the next door shop. The drum in the window seems sharper than the performer + keeps drawing my eye. All in all though a good candid, + you are braver than me, I'd feel too much of a nincompoop ![]() |

Re: Street Performer....
Like the shot - I think I would like it better if it were cropped just to the left of those sticks or poles leaning on this pack. That would put the subject off center and eliminate some unnescessary and distracting background.

Re: Street Performer....
I like this a lot Jewel. Stuff the rule of thirds, it was made to be broken and this is why! The drum is necessary as it speaks into the picture. The open door is also important as we know this is where people come and go and ignore the guy trying to scrape his next meal together. The angle of the pavement (sidewalk to you Skip <g>) works really well and the lighting is great: dark enough to give mood to the image while still allowing just the merest glimpse of the man who doesn't want us to see too much of him.
Love it, well done.... and I hope you stuck a few coins in his case as a thank you ![]() Cheers, Rob
