Re: Sumatran Tiger
Lovely shot and well timed. I think I'd crop the right hand side off a bout 2 centimetres so that we have more space 'in front' of the tiger than behind. Face is a touch soft but this might be down to the compression of the image. If it's fully sharp in the printed version then it's lovely

Re: Sumatran Tiger
Thanks Rob.
The printed version does seem a little shaprer than the version on screen, but I take your point and you are quite correct with your comment about the face. Dave |

Re: Sumatran Tiger
Thanks Gary
On the advice of the resident pro for the day, Chris Weston, I set the camera to AV and set the f-stop to 2.8. This seemed to work fairly well all the way through the day. All of the shots had to be taken through steel mesh fencing which led to some interesting pictures. Dave |

Presumably the whf at Headcorn which is where this was taken. If it is I hope you enjoy yourself as much as I did. Dave |

Nice action shot. It might crop well to portrait mode?

Re: Sumatran Tiger
Dave
Yes. I used a Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 and found this to be quite suitable, although possibly on occasions the 2x extender could have been handy. If you are taking the second body, something like a 24-70mm 2.8, which is what I used was very handy to have. Some of these cats will come right up to you and I have shots of a friend of mine stroking a sleeping Siberian Tiger, although you will be shot if found doing such things. For these occasions the second body and lens is well worth taking. I took far too much with me in hindsight but had no idea what I would use. Hope you enjoy your day, I can't believe that you will be disappointed by the experience. Best regards Dave |
