I have a photo posted called Summers Youth. I would like to get some feedback on it. I took this photo at a local youth game for a friend. I am behind the Backstop shooting through the wire. I want to get some sense of how good or bad the shot is and also what I could do to sharpen such a photo despite having to shoot through the background. This photo is unedited.

Action's well caught even if ball is slightly hidden against pitcher. Be better to see him off centre too, rather than in the middle - tho a crop of the RHS might help

I've had a quick go at this as you have the makings of a good image there. Obviously I only have the low-res file and it is a very quick edit but it is only to give an idea of what can be done.

Crop
Adjust shadows/highlights
Levels tweak
High Pass filter sharpen

I like the shot, good timing to get the pitcher and ball in those positions.

I increased the brightness and contrast a touch in Curves
Cropped a little and rotated a bit because the fence was bugging me
I increased the saturation, particularly green and red
Then just tweaked the brightness of the boys face with a levels layer that was masked
