Re: Sunseeker Rallye 2008
hey chris!
you have captured some good action in them shots there. They are not all sharp/in focus though which maybe lets them down a bit. can you recall what settings you were using for them? Was it a 16 car line up of just metro 6r4's?!!! if they were all running at the same time that would be just something else! do you know the spec of that metro 6r4 'lookalike' in your first photo? post up photos of the other 15 metros for us to drool over!!! ![]() im loving that shot of C818 FFC Steve |

Re: Sunseeker Rallye 2008
Hi Steve
Yes some of them are not sharp particuarly the high speed on gravel. I was using generally ISO200 at 5.6. There was a line up of 16 Metro 6r4's and 10 of them competed in a special stage between two run throughs of the main Rally at Somerley house. I'll post some more images of the metro and see if I can find the spec of that first car later. |

Re: Sunseeker Rallye 2008
I think I prefer the shots without the crowds, so it's No2 for me.
It's a shame that No.4 isn't sharper - with that wheel off the ground it would have been a corker! ![]() No.3 - the navigator guy looks like he's taking a nap but I guess he's reading the map! |

Re: Sunseeker Rallye 2008
Yes Ali, Number 4 would of been great if it was sharp.
Unfortunately the light was not great and I think personally I am pleased at getting this car in the shot (300mm) from distance as it was really moving at the time. The light meant that I could only get about 1/250th second, which is just not fast enough and due to the crowd panning was not an option. Steve the metro lookalike in shot 1 spinning into the hay is the No. 26 Spar Devon.com/Spar Cornwall.com Alan Cookson Julian Wilkinson Subaru Impreza WRC P5 WRC 1994 B13 Funnily enough I have a series of about 9 shots of the spin, which I was only taking as the film crew came out and thought it would be good to get a shot of them filming the car. Then he lost control and just held the shutter down! ![]() Last 2 shots of the 6vr4's ![]()

It was the spec of car A14 LOO i was meaning chris. Its a newer shaped metro with a wide arch 6r4 lookalike kit by the looks of it but i was wondering if you knew the engine spec? Quote:
There is still a few in action in ireland but quite a few english crews come over for the Ulster National Rally. There's just something about the grunt of them beasts!!!

Re: Sunseeker Rallye 2008
Sorry Steve,
Had thought you were joking about the Subaru. Yes that A14 LOO does look like a kit. I'm fairly sure it had the same type of engine as the others, though not sure and can't find that out from looking at the programme. There's a link on the Sunseeker page to a 6r4 site with some shots and details. Here's the site. Here it is Welcome to Metro 6R4 Online News |

Re: Sunseeker Rallye 2008
i know of the man that runs that site, there's some good photos of the metros on there.
he's definitely put a lot of effort into getting that metro the way it is. The Rothmans sponsered 6r4 has to be one of the nicest colour schemes ever! i have linked in a couple of shots of Colin McRae in the Donegal National Rally 2006. Sorry about the big watermark but i have them on my site and they're the last photos i want nicked!!! if you want them moved from this thread please say and ill get them shifted!! |
