Nice, but what is the problem with ISO 100?

Re: Sunset out a window

at first i thought it would have given me more colour detail but i suppose the higher ISO would just have given more noise? im not too sure as i havent taklen a lot of night shots! would you have used a low ISO for that tyope of shot?

thanks,
Steve

Re: Sunset out a window

This is a lovely image Steve I never change my ISO, so don't have much experience there, but your setting of ISO 100 certainly hasn't done this image any harm My lowest, on D50, is ISO 200 and that's where it stays. I think your setting is the best one, and that a higher setting would indeed have produced noise.

Re: Sunset out a window

i usually change iso if am shooting fast moving object ,i go to 400 if need extra light depending on where iam ,sometimes i go 400 on that as well. As i dont understand iso alot ,i play around maybe change it just to see impact.
Unfortunately i cant get 100 iso ,so am stuck with 200iso on lowest.I may be wrong but i sort of look at iso as how i would choose speed of film i would use for film camera.
Great shot ,have taken few like this and like you i didnt change iso ,didnt think i needed to at the time.

Re: Sunset out a window

This is good iso for this pic. Cameras all have different lowest iso settings, and all the lowest iso's create the least noise for that camera.

I only use higher iso in low light when adjusting aperture and shutter don't quite get there. And often there is too much noise in the higher iso's to make a useful picture.

So, lower is better.

Well that's pretty low anyway. I wouldn't have, but I would have had to have used ISO200 anyway (if that makes sense), but I think this was the correct one in this case. Not much noise, not blurred...
