Superbikes at Brands Hatch
Went to watch and try my hand at motor bike racing photography today and I think I've done ok, and the rain managed to stay away for most of the day. I've got to say I'm really liking this Sigma 70 -200 lens took a few other lenes with me today but this one never came off!!!
Ok here's the photo's One ![]() Two ![]() Three (Old sparky rides again!!) ![]() Four (Kinda happy with this one but think I can do better so please any tips, hints, advice all are very very welcome) ![]() Edit have made the change so that you can now see the images as my pc at home is not playing fair and will be stripped and rebuilt in the next few days!! Thank you for taking the time to look

hooooooooo, now the one with the sparks is brilliant. There was a feature in a mag recently about a shot like this of fogartyy using some fancy spark generating clobber that got banned.
Brilliant shot. Maybe a tighter crop? |

Really like 1 and 3, the last doesn't seem to have a focal point for me but it still almost works ![]() The cropped one is great |

The first two are good, the third is much better though as it conveys the sense of speed much more and adds excitement to the picture. If you could have carried the settings used on the third to the first two I think they would have been stronger shots overall wth them having two bikes/riders in close quarters battling it out.
Like dod has already said I feel the fouth is lacking any real focal point, but unlike for dod it is not working for me. The cropped shot is excellent though |

Nice shots there, No. 3 is my favourite the sparks really add to the shot.
![]() Like others have said the others are a little lacking, what sort of focal lengths were you using? I was at brands over the weekend but due to problems with my internet connection at home have not uploaded yet.......hopefully will have some up later this week. |

My focal lengths were any thing from 70mm right through to the full 200mm f stops not sure as I had my camera setup for shutter priority, shutter speeds were between 1\100th to 1\250th I spent quite a bit of time changing speeds and focal lengths just to see what works and what doesn't.
As the day went on I settle for a shutter speed of 1\125th and a focal length between 70 and about 120mm. |
