Re: Swan
Hi Joe, I think it might be down to white balance, plus a slight sharpen. I could be completey wrong though
. Did you convert from raw ? If so what setting did you use for WB....daylight ? The ripples round the swan are spot on though. Will have a play tomorrow am. |

Re: Swan
I am not sure the higher contrast is needed as both are pretty contrasty anyway. The colours reflected in the water and the backlighting on the swan are beautiful though.
Is this a crop at all because I get that it may work better with the swan slightly more to the right of frame rather that it being central but I would not be so keen to crop the ripples behind it.... |

Re: Swan
OK, first I played with colour version. I noticed from the overall "levels" that the left slider could be pulled in a fair bit to start of curve. This deepened the colours. I then did some USM at 25 pixels, threshold 0. This is a great way to get some punch to a shot, but as with everything has to be done in moderation
![]() Steve will probably hate the contrast now ![]() ...oh & a Mono one as I was there ![]() ![]() |

Re: Swan
Hey guys.
Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my pic. I do prefer my higher contrats version over my first - the first looks flat in comparison. Steve, it's not cropped at all. I was wondering if I could get away without cropping. Since joining a few stock agencies, and also prinitning some of my shots I've become against cropping, even when it wouldnt really matter! Dave, I had already done both of what you said - played with the levels like you did, and also done USM by the same amount - guess that means I need to push further next time! Mono one is quite cool, but its the colours that make the shot imo. Thanks again. ![]()
