Swans, Dragons & Knights

Couple of shots from early Sat morning - all Canon 350D + 100-400mm with 1.4x TC

Misted Swan
Cosmeston had a lovely mist rising from the lake

Backlit Swan
This was the type of shot I'd turned up to take - with the early morning sun colouring the swans. Not entirely successfully, I have to admit! Next time!

Dragon View
Was pretty pleased to get this - with the 100-400mm + 1.4x, so focussing (manual) was fun and games!

Combat!
Cosmeston Medieval Village had a theme day with all manner of people dressed up in period costume - the fighting contingent were practising (and those swords were no messing metal!). Good to see equality dating back to those days!

Fisher Folk
Well I'm assuming they're meant to be fisherwomen as that's a coracle and fish traps leaning against the wall

Pic size limit = 1000pix on the longest edge, and a 200kb file size limit.

Consider yourself told!

(saying that, you could've always read the posting guidelines to save us the trouble)

#2 works for me and #3 is a cracker although I would crop a little off the left.

Soupy - size limit 1000 pixels here. If a third person tells you that it must be true - or Lewis Carroll.

I'd like to think that was a good excuse for my pictures not having as much impact as some!

Having thought longer on the subject, that must be why, cos all my pictures are souper!

Trying it out - prior to my getting a new "something" (tho' probably a 30D or a 40D)

Think a little off LHS works well, Silky. Cheers! Was hesitant to crop it down more (already lost 20% from FF) as it emphasises that the detail isn't as strong as it could be!

That first one is absolutely beautiful. Just showed my wife and she agreed we'd have that on our wall in a heartbeat!

Photographically it would be easy to pick holes in it, the bright horizontal a bit strong or whatever. But sometimes you just have to say 'sod the rules' and go with the image... and that image is gorgeous :o)
