Re: Tenerife Sunset
It is a bit of a distraction. Pity it's not on the LHS to balance the shot a bit. All of the interest is from the centre to the RHS. My eye tends to jump straight to the right rather than being drawn to the right, if you see what I mean.
In the absence of any clouds, I think it needs something more against the sky for the eye to initially dwell on before going on to the sun. |

Re: Tenerife Sunset
yep i know what you mean, i had another similar shot with a lady in the LHS walking alongside the wall but she was to close and knocked the whole image off balance even more!!
thanks, Steve |

Re: Tenerife Sunset
I think I would be inclined to take the lamp post out.
Lovely sunset. ![]() |

Re: Tenerife Sunset
I think remove the lamp post also to my mind the shot would look better with some of the featureless foreground cropped away.Very good sunset!

Re: Tenerife Sunset
It seems that this is mostly a cropping exercise. I would crop just to the left of the trees and most of the FG at the bottom, then clone the lamppost.
Sunsets are usually difficult because of the shadowed FG, but this is a good image. skip |

Re: Tenerife Sunset
I agree the lampost is a distraction on an otherwise good shot.

Re: Tenerife Sunset
I thought I'd see what it looks like without the lamp-post and IMOP it definitely looks better without it. I have also rotated to get the horizon level and then cropped a touch off bottom and left.
It's a lovely image, well taken so I hope you like the pimp. Cheers, Rob ![]() |

Re: Tenerife Sunset
Oooh I love this shot, reminds me of when I was in Gran Canaria a few months back. Unfortunately didn't get to capture much photos of the scenery. Anyway I'm drifting from the point. I love the who romantic feel you've captured with this shot. Nature really is beautiful

Re: Tenerife Sunset
thanks folks! i just wanted the experts opinion on it! i think the curved shape of the wall make it more appealing than an ordinary straight one, maybe not!
suicide regect - i think i took 12 shots here and this was the only one that hadnt got lens flare on it so was kind of lucky in a way! lol ill maybe get round to posting more sometime! Steve |

Re: Tenerife Sunset
I entirely agree with you Steve, the curved wall leads the eye into the picture nicely. It is excellent lighting that has kept detail in the shadow area without over-cooking the sun. The sunlight reflecting off the top of the wall is perfect.

Re: Tenerife Sunset
thanks Rob, i was working on this one earlier again trying to remove the lampost on the original shot. i am having terrible difficulty with it as the background is like a gradient of orange to grey. i was trying it with the Clone tool in PS, is this the best way to do it?
thanks, Steve |
