We don't get anything like that around here!

Excellent - especially the first one - and I didn't realise that Lutherians allowed painted ceilings like that.

The RC church isn't big enough to confess anything really serious.

Thanks guys, glad that you appreciated them! The thing that I liked about Latvia was the flowers.

The small churches came from villages. I looked into the windows of the Catholic Church, there was an altar and enough space for the priest and one other person. I guess that it was more like a shrine than an active church.

I will have to show my sister in law whose parents were Latvian. She got married in a Lutheran church in the UK and it was very plain and simple.

We may well do. Retirement is rapidly approaching and we would like to get up to North Norway to see the fjords at some time and perhaps with a bit of bird watching thrown in as well. The trouble is the world has so many places that we want to go to we are not sure where to start. - It is a nice problem to have though

AQ if you do decide to go, I can give you some tips. First one is Norway is EXPENSIVE.
