Re: Three from Switzerland

Three very good captures of dusk. The only two things that make me ponder are the oarsman's head that's missing, but then you'd have to be a lot higher to get it in, and whether the tree in #3 ought to be there - if you know what I mean. But that's a matter of personal preference.

The halo round the clouds in #3 is superb.

Hmmm, number 2 is an total belter, brilliant photograph, #1 is close but there is something not quite there for me and I don't know what, it is very good but just seems to be missing something.
#3 , again the clouds are fantastic but I can't help feeling that the tree is kinda in the way if ya know what I mean. but anyway, what do I know, Great shots.

Re: Three from Switzerland

Cheers for the comments gentlemen

@stepheno with regards to the first shot... I can see the man's head in the boat but his neck does unfortunately fall exactly on the horizon line and it does make it look like he is decapitated. I couldn't have got any higher to alter that and as I was using a zoom for the shot going lower wouldn't have corrected that either. If I am being honest though, I hadn't noticed the problem at the time of shooting so your comment is still very valid and helpful

The second shot seems fairly well received so I'll just move on quickly to the third...

The tree was 'in the way' and due to the surrounding area I had no change of getting a substantially different shot in the time available. With those restraints in place I chose to break all the rules and plant the tree dead central. I got the picture but I guess the jury is still out on if it works or not

Cheers to everyone who took the time and effort to comment, its very much appreciated

Re: Three from Switzerland

I agree with the other's regarding pic's 1 & 2

In regards to the 3rd pic, well I really like it, the sky is lovely and the central tree give's the picture quite a bold statement, the thing I think that feels slightly awkward to the eye is the patchy farm land behind the tree, but it's not that big a deal.
