Timbit hockey!
This past Tuesday I was at the Aud" watching a Kitchener Rangers game here in town. It was Kitchener vs Guelph, but anyway. Reason is every year they have the little "timbits" come out and entertain the crowd during second intermission. This year it was my son's first time, it's his first year in a hockey leaugue. So here are a few shot's I took from the very last" row of the arena! I wasn't impressed at all that's for sure! We were all put right up in the back row. Parents were not happy. Not too many turned out to be honest. I managed to salvage a few just so he can have them on his shelf in his room. I do have one question though, how would I go about removing the net that is quite obvious in a couple of the shots. I couldn't have been placed in a worse spot! It's quite distracting as you can see, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.http://www.thephotographyforums.com/...ngersgame2.jpg http://www.thephotographyforums.com/...ngersgame1.jpg http://www.thephotographyforums.com/...ngersgame3.jpg Thanks, Jewel. |

Don't you just hate it when that happens
![]() If you have Photoshop then use the clone tool to get rid of the main posts. As for the finer netting due to the complex patterns/detail/shadows of the players I would be tempted to only clone the bits over the ice & either leave the rest or try a slight gaussian blur. For future if you have a decent zoom , you can zoom in on specific action / player & have the lowest f/stop chosen to shorten the depth of field & hopefully blur the netting (probably not possible if too far back from netting). Hi hi Jewel. Just noticed this one! Tsk, tsk on me for taking so long to comment.
Some good action shots there that'd benefit from a bit of chippy-choppery! I'll have a play and get back to you.... |

Just set the white balance to the ice as I assume it was white:

Bluff your way to the front row next time - tell them you're from the local paper.
Better still, phone the local paper and tell them you're going to the match and will be taking photos and ask if they'd like some freebies. Then you don't have to lie (if that sort of thing causes you sleepless nights, that is...). |

Hey sammy thanks for the help. I don't know if it's just me but, the ice looks too be to white, kinda hurts the eyes, lol. Looks blown out or something. Should it be that white ya think? I didn't mind it in the original, lol. There's a happy medium somewhere. I"ll play around with it some more. Thanks again, Jewel. |

![]() I struggled to stop that happening Jewel, I think the contrast was too high in the original or summit. |

Tricky with stadium lighting: usually you get sodium lights, flourescent lights and sometimes a few tungsten lights thrown in just for fun - either shoot RAW or do a custom white balance off the ice at the front row - or out on the ice before the game starts.
